Source of problems
Sitting or standing for long periods, lack of physical activity, high room temperature, imbalanced diet, smoking, tight clothing, sluggish intestinal transit, ageing or simply hereditary factors are some of the main causes of circulation problems.
Lifestyle-diet advice
- Avoid coffee, smoking, alcohol and reduce the quantity of fats, fried foods and fast sugars in your diet.
- Drink at least 1.5 litres of water every day.
- Eat lots of fruit and vegetables.
- Take up sport (preferably activities that do not place too much strain on the arch of the foot: swimming, cycling, and gymnastics).
- Avoid sources of heat (sauna, steam room and extended exposure to natural or artificial sunlight).
- At the end of your shower, direct a jet of cool water over your legs, working upwards. The vasoconstrictor effect will provide immediate relief.
- In the evening, massage your legs to relax them and, if you can, raise the leg area of your mattress slightly to facilitate venous return.
