Standardised plant extracts
Extracts are obtained by means of maceration, i.e. immersing a plant, or part of a plant, in a suitable solvent such as alcohol, water or glycerin.
The solvent is used either on its own or in combination, depending on the desired extraction. The maceration time depends on the solubility of the main active ingredient and the required dosage.
Standardisation means ensuring that the same quantity of the main active ingredient is obtained each time, either by increasing the maceration time or diluting the resulting liquid extract.
To obtain a dry extract, the solid substances are filtered and the solvent is then evaporated.
For a liquid extract, the solid substances are filtered and the solvent is partially evaporated to concentrate the solution.
Before it is used in a product, each plant is checked to ensure it complies with the specifications.
High concentration
As well as their quality, Herba Sana extracts are characterised by a high concentration of the plant’s main active ingredients to concentrate the entire efficacy in as few tablets as possible.
Optimal dosage
For plants too, there is an optimal dose to which ORTIS scrupulously complies with in its formulations. For most of the plants in the Herba Sana range, the optimal dosage is achieved with 1 to 2 tablets, or 1 to 2 tablespoons of phyto-active concentrate.
Phyto-active plant concentrates
Herba Sana phyto-active concentrates are liquid plant concentrates. They contain the same dosages as the Herba Sana tablets. A dose of concentrate (15 ml) contains the same quantity of plant active ingredients as a tablet. This is why we talk about phyto-active concentrates.
The naturally sweet tapioca syrup base contains no added sugar and gives the concentrate a very pleasant flavour, as well as ensuring natural preservation and effective assimilation of the plant's active ingredients.
Advantages
This format has several advantages:
- The dosage can be adjusted to provide the correct amount of highly concentrated extract depending on the consumer’s age.
- Herba Sana phyto-active concentrates are supplied with detailed instructions for children between the ages of 3 and 6, between 6 and 12, and for adults and children over the age of 12.
- A useful alternative to tablets. The liquid form is easily assimilated which means that its action can sometimes be faster.
- All the ingredients are derived from certified organic farming.
- The concentrates contain only sugars which are naturally present in the ingredients (tapioca syrup, plant extract and concentrated lemon juice).
