Active components

Catechins (epigallocatechin gallate, epigallocatechin): these powerful antioxidants have a protective effect on our organs. Moreover, they support the combustion of fats.

Flavonoids: have an antioxidant effect. Polyphenols: have an antioxidant effect.

Phenolic acids: have an antioxidant effect.

Alcaloids (caffeine): like in coffee, caffeine has a stimulating, toning effect.

Usage

Tea is probably the most commonly consumed popular and toning drink after water. Green tea is different from black tea in the sense that it has practically not been fermented. Thanks to this, its main ingredients are protected from oxidation. Black tea is traditionally consumed. Green tea is becoming increasingly popular. In any event, if you want to make the most of the beneficial ingredients of tea, do not add any milk as it will bind with the catechins and inhibit their function. The quantity of catechins in the tea will depend on how long you brew the tea. The first minutes mainly release the olfactory, taste-related and stimulant properties. The catechins are only released afterwards. This is when you will notice the bitter taste and astringent effect in the mouth. The powerful antioxidants in green tea are thanks to the polyphenols that protect the cells against free radicals and that therefore contribute to the beneficial health effects. 1-10 Both green tea and black tea have a diuretic effect. 11
