Laboratoires ORTIS is celebrating its 60^th anniversary

As a pioneer of herbal medicine, ORTIS has set itself the goal of sustainably improving human well-being by developing and marketing safe and effective high-quality food supplements.

Inspired by its founders, the Horn family, ORTIS has developed a genuine social commitment shared by the 125 company employees. This commitment, based on respect and harmony between humans and nature, has been a continuous and permanent objective for many decades.

The history of ORTIS is closely linked to innovation, for instance, with the development of liquid royal jelly in 1958, and the development of the first ORGANIC tablet coating in 2008. In 2018, innovation still remains a powerful driving force for development at ORTIS, with the launch of new products, but also through various partnerships with the Walloon Region and other companies working with ORTIS on different established research projects.

"Herba Sana near you"

Spread throughout Belgium

On its 60^th anniversary, ORTIS decided to launch the "Herba Sana near you" project, by working with partners to design local medicinal gardens based on the “Herba Sana” garden in Elsenborn.

The aim of the "Herba Sana near you" project was to raise awareness, among a broad audience, of the benefits of nature in general, and medicinal plants in particular. Moreover, owing to its educational aspect (conferences, workshops, etc.), it allows participants to create their own medicinal garden “at home”. Each "Herba Sana near you!" garden comprises 25 essential plants for key therapeutic indications identified by plaques displayed next to the plants. Visitors are also given an information brochure on the garden, and further information is available on www.herba-sana.be

The first "Herba Sana near you” gardens

The "Herba Sana near you" gardens are developed with partners and created on site. Four gardens are being inaugurated this summer in 2018.

Château de Hex

This château is owned by the d’Ursel family. The "Herba Sana near you!" garden completes the development of the estate.
Hôpital Notre-Dame à la Rose

This magnificently preserved and restored historical site, completes the recent development of its parks and vegetable garden, with "Herba Sana near you".
Hôtel BRITANNIA

Landscaped adjacent to a road, "Herba Sana near you!" can be discovered easily by walkers as well as nature enthusiasts.
The prison of Marche-en-Famenne

"Herba Sana near you" settled in the kitchen garden of the prison, allowing prisoners to become aware of the benefits of medicinal plants

Three new gardens "Herba Sana near you" will be inaugurated this year.

La mûreraie of Jean-Noël Wagner

In order to transmit his love for the terroir and his ancestral heritage to the general public in an innovative way, the orchard of Jean-Noël Wagner will welcome for this purpose the 25 medicinal plants of "Herba Sana near you".
Le parc des Topiaires

"Herba Sana near you" completes this unique park in Europe consisting of a collection of boxwood carved on more than 10 000m².

Herba Sana près de chez vous au Parc des Topiaires

Ouverture le 20 et 21 juillet

Le week-end du 20 et 21 juillet prochains le Parc des Topiaires fêtera l’inauguration du jardin « Herba Sana près de chez vous » au sein de ses propres installations. L’occasion pour ORTIS de présenter son projet éducatif et didactique, sa philosophie et ses produits.

Mais en avant-première le samedi 29 juin prochain notre Conseiller scientifique et Herboriste Luc Vanderkragt donnera une conférence dans les locaux du syndicat d’initiative (25, place aux foires). L’occasion pour lui de faire découvrir le monde vaste et fascinant des plantes médicinales et des bienfaits de la santé au naturel, de partager son savoir et son expérience. Une opportunité unique pour tous les participants de poser leurs questions à un professionnel de la phytothérapie.

Ensuite, les participants rejoindront le Parc des Topiaires pour une visite guidée du jardin Herba Sana organisée par les collaborateurs Ortis. Une matinée intéressante et passionnante en perspective. Avis aux amateurs!
