Passiflore
Plante grimpante pérenne, s'accrochant par ses vrilles. Herbacée disparaissant complètement l'hiver dans les régions froides - Feuilles alternes portées par un pétiole pubescent, de 1-2 cm de long - Fleurs solitaires de 5 à 9 cm de diamètre de couleur rose ou pourpre pale garnies d’une couronne de filaments bleu mauve - Fruit (baie oblongue-ovoïde, jaune verdâtre) comestible, d’environ 5 cm de diamètre.

Composants actifs
Flavonoïdes (apigénine, chrysine): ont un effet anxiolytique, sédatif et hypnotique.
Usage
Les parties aériennes séchées de la passiflore ont une longue tradition chez les indigènes d'Amérique du Nord pour des problèmes de digestion dus à la nervosité, d'agitation et d'hypertension.
Des recherches récentes montrent qu'elle aide à calmer l'excitation et facilite la détente. 1-8 Mais elle peut également être utilisée pour favoriser un sommeil sain. 9,10
